Expository Teaching
Preaching directly from the Bible — all of God’s Word — typifies our teaching model. We value teaching that works through the text and explains, illustrates, and helps us apply what is in the Bible to our lives and in our families, with a particular attention toward encouraging and equipping parents to teach and disciple their families at home.
Family Integrated
Families worship together. There are some elements designed for the younger ones, but we believe even young children benefit from hearing Bible teaching with adults, seeing the example of their parents in worship, and talking about the teaching as a family at home.
We also recognize that each family is at a different place in training their children — and with babies and small children all present, noise is expected, and not just tolerated but appreciated. Some parents feel the need to take young ones to a quiet room for a few minutes or walk with them in the back of the auditorium.
Missions
As a church we keep expenses low so we can financially bless dozens of global and local missions and relief organizations, sending a significant percentage of annual giving to other ministries sponsored by member families. Families are encouraged and equipped to share and defend the Gospel and a Biblical worldview and get involved in outreach opportunities.
Blended Worship
We enjoy a blended worship style that includes traditional hymns, praise choruses, and contemporary songs — accompanied by piano, guitar, and other instruments.
Fellowship
As a low-program church we have few church-organized activities outside of Sunday mornings. Weekly fellowship after the service lasts an hour or more. We also enjoy a fellowship meal on the first Sunday of the month.
Church families sponsor and are engaged in a wide variety of fellowship and ministry activities. Good Shepherd encourages and promotes these community opportunities including:
- Age-integrated Bible studies
- Living History Days
- Homeschool Etc.
- Youth/family sports and game nights
- Evangelism outreach
